MAJOR CANADIAN BANK    

Program management – FATCA Regulatory Compliance

Provided Program Management services, for the implementation of the FATCA regulation requirements in the International Division ($25MM) to comply on time with the IRS. Led the IT teams of the International Division in 4 regions and 37 countries providing coaching, direction and support to 12 PM’s including third party vendors for the purpose of implementing simultaneously the regulation requirements in all countries.

The implementation required the design and implementation of new operational processes (interfacing with other initiatives like AML), development of two different architectures, network security, privacy of information and daily process automation to manage the full processes (on boarding, due diligence and reporting of customers). More than 40 systems were in scope: retail banking, trading, Insurance systems, customer online applications and mobile applications.

 

MAJOR CANADIAN BANK  – 

Project Management– Sarbanes Oxley (SOX) Regulatory Compliance  

Provide Project Management and Consulting services in Sarbanes Oxley, leading a security project to assess the security environment for 50 critical applications to identify and solve issues with access control in order to comply with Sarbanes Oxley regulations.

Documented SOX requirements  for  applications access control and data integrity.

Assessed access control processes and reports for all selected SOX applications; documented processes and reports improvements and run an attestation for controls testing.

Finally identified, interviewed and educated application owners in SOX requirements about ownership, roles, responsibilities, access control processes and metrics.

MAJOR CANADIAN BANK – 

Project Management – Operations Improvement

Provided Project management and Consulting services managing  a team of business BA’s, and developers for the implementation of the Enterprise Product Taxonomy for Capital Markets. Developed the business case, project plan, budget and execution of first phase ($2 MM). The project included the involvement of stakeholders from Front Office, Market Risk, Quants and Finance in Canada, UK and US. In addition, participation of IT teams supporting 14 booking systems and 9 risk engines.

The first phase standardized the product definition of securities, identifying the risk exposures and provided more accurate reporting to reduce capital charges for these instruments portfolio.

MULTINATIONAL CHEMICAL MANUFACTURING COMPANY –

Project Management and IT Consulting – Business & IT Operations Improvement

Project Management services were provided leading a team of ITIL consultants developing ITIL processes for Service support and service delivery.

Critical processes were selected based on client strategy and needs implementing service desk, incident, problem and change management. The engagement included tools selection and implementation.

Also the JDE application system was assessed identifying SOX controls for IT and creating  documentation and testing plans to comply with Sarbanes Oxley regulations.

CANADIAN PHARMACEUTICAL COMPANY – 

Project Management – PMO Operations Improvement

Performed a maturity assessment for the Project Management Office, including Portfolio, Program and Project Management processes.

Identified opportunity areas for improvement and provided recommendations for Intake, gating, scope, time, cost, quality, communications, risk management, organization, reporting and metrics.

The PMO implemented the recommendations; and in the first year improved the management of the business project portfolio and priorities, assignment of resources and reduced the number of projects exciding budget.

IT Consulting Experience

CANADIAN GOVERNMENT MINISTRY – 

Project Management and IT Consulting – IT Service Operations Improvement

Provided IT Consulting and Project Management services to a Government organization to improve their service delivery capabilities and support the development and transition to production of 45 new operational applications.

Assessed the current IT environment using ITIL framework; Identified processes to be improved, documented improvements and implemented recommendations. The processes in scope were Service Portfolio Management, Services Catalogue, Incident, Problem, Change, and Service Level Management.

The organization improved management, control and transition of new applications and services in their portfolio to production.

MAJOR CANADIAN BANK 

IT Business Continuity Plan Improvement 

Assessed the IT Business Continuity Plan for the bank, using the ISO24762 standard.

The review included: business sustainment during disaster; effectiveness and efficiency of disaster recovery plan for critical applications and IT services; compliance to business requirements (Drills, RTO, RPO, SLA); sustainment offsite recovery locations; level of understanding and priority between business and IT; policies and procedures; documentation and contingency simulation results.

The bank implemented most of the recommendations and tested improvements through a simulated disaster.
